PlaNYC is the growth plan for New York City unveiled by Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2007. The plan's purpose is to chart a course until 2030 for the anticipated growth in NYC's population while improving the city's energy efficiency, reduce it's impact on the environment, and prepare it for the effects of global warming. Parts of plan that are being met now include the construction of new water treatment plants and the planting of over one million trees by 2010.
